Ready to begin your pottery journey? This 8-week beginner wheel throwing course is designed for those who want to build a strong foundation on the pottery wheel. Whether you’re completely new or looking to refine your basics, this hands-on course will guide you through essential techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment. What You’ll Learn *Fundamentals: Centering and basic throwing techniques *Essential forms: Cylinders, mugs with handles, bowls, plates, and vases *Trimming & refining: Learn how to shape, balance, and finish your pieces *Glazing In the final session, you’ll explore a simple single-dip glazing technique to give your work a clean and beautiful finish. Course Curriculum Week 1: Centering Week 2: Cylinders Week 3: Bowls Week 4: Plates Week 5: Vases Week 6: Trimming Week 7: Trimming & finishing Week 8: Glazing Week 9: Pick-up (If you can’t make it on pick-up day, you’re welcome to collect your pieces on another day.) *Course Details Duration: 8 weeks, 2-hour session each week Cost: $380 per person What’s included: Firing for up to 10 pieces (Additional pieces can be fired for $5 each) What to Bring *Wooden board A flat wooden board, similar in size to a standard chopping board. This will be used to move and store your work between sessions. *Zip-lock plastic bags Used to keep your pieces moist between classes and to protect them while drying. You’ll need these to store your work from Week 1 through to Week 6, especially before trimming. *A container or box for storage A plastic container or sturdy box that is large enough to safely store and carry your pottery pieces home without damage. *An apron Pottery can get messy, so please wear an apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. *Trimmed nails Short nails will make working on the wheel more comfortable and help you achieve better results. Important Notes *Clay: Clay is not included in the course fee. Clay can be purchased at the studio (10kg for $50). *Safety: Pottery involves materials and processes that require care. If you are pregnant or have any health concerns, please let your tutor know so we can advise on safe practices. *Bookings: Spaces are limited. Bookings are non-refundable unless we are able to fill your spot. *Class numbers: Please note: If minimum participant numbers are not met, the class may be cancelled, and participants will be notified in advance.
